Descrizione
The guide – characterized by the particular binding that allows two verses of reading – accompanies the visitor to discover Palazzo Madama, an extraordinary building that summarizes in itself all the history of the city of Turin: from Roman gate turns in the Middle Ages into fortress and then into castle of the princes of Acaja. Between the sixties and eighteenth centuries, the Royal Ladies of Savoy chose it as their residence and in the nineteenth century Carlo Alberto placed the first Senate of the Kingdom of Italy.
Since 1934 the palace has housed the collections of ancient art of the Civic Museum, also illustrated – through the most important artifacts and works – in the second part of the guide.
