ABSTRACT – «It is by believing with the heart and by making the declaration with your
lips» (Rm 10:10). The faith as heart’s act and free choice. The article is inspired by the quotation
of Rm 10,10 in the Apostolic Letter of Benedict XVI Porta fidei, where he calls to
mind the need to combine the faith’s contents with the testimony, which must be not only
personal, but also public and communitarian. The author of the article analyses exegetically
the context of the Letter to Romans, in which is the verse. The exegese brings out
the prominent role of Christ: infact, the Law is confirmed just through the faith in Christ,
because she aims at him and is completed in him. For this reason, according to Paul, we
must do anything else but to believe with the heart and to confess with the lips the faith
in Christ Lord raised from the dead, that gives the salvation to everybody who invokes
him. Di Palma finishes his work stressing the christian’s consistency of faith during these
difficult times.
